Gouren the traditional wrestling style of Brittany has developed from a rural sport in the 19th century into a sophisticated and attractive modern wrestling style.
   

Mod Kozh
(Old Style)

On the left, the winner of a traditional challenge tournament in 1837.  Despite Gouren’s structural modernisation Mod Kozh tournaments still take place every summer all over Brittany.

Gouren and the related Cornish style of England are almost the same sport and the wrestlers can easily switch from one style to the other,

The St. Loup Festival

The St. Loup Festival in Guingamp attracts    competitors every year from England, Iceland, Scotland, and Friesland and the two men wearing the kilt are from the World Championship Pipe Band, Shotts & Dykehead Caledonia.  Pipe Major Rab Mathieson on the right had just piped the Scottish women’s team into the arena to compete in an international match against Brittany.
